As the frosty chill of winter sets in, it's time to lace up your skates and glide into the festive season at Willen on Ice. Whether you're an experienced skater or stepping onto the ice for the first time, this winter attraction promises endless fun, laughter, and a bit of winter magic.
But before you hit the rink, you need to plan your outfit, so let's talk about what to wear to stay warm, stylish, and snap some pictures for the 'gram!
1. Layer Up
Layers are your best friend on the ice. Start with a thermal base layer to keep the cold out. A stylish knit sweater, fleece top, or hoodie are the best way to go! Think neutral tones or bold patterns for a trendy winter look. Throw on a puffer jacket or a teddy bear coat to keep the heat in without feeling too bulky. If you’re prone to falling over on the ice, wear a waterproof jacket so that if you fall, the moisture doesn’t seep through and make you cold.
2. The Perfect Pair of Jeans or Leggings
For bottoms, you’ll want something flexible but warm. For me, it's got to be a pair of fleece-lined leggings – these are a winter staple! They work perfectly for keeping your legs warm and cosy, while still allowing you to move freely on the rink.
3. Don’t Forget the Accessories
If you're aiming for an Instagram-worthy outfit, I’d recommend ear muffs. Not only do they look super cute, but they shield your ears from the cold, so you don’t get earache from being out in the chill. You can also accessorise with a knitted beanie hat and a matching scarf. Oh, and don’t forget your gloves!
4. Footwear Off the Ice
While skates are provided at Willen on Ice, you’ll still want to arrive in something comfortable and weather-appropriate. Fur-lined boots are always my go-to, and Uggs are my favourite. Not only will they keep your feet warm before and after skating, but they're also incredibly easy to slip on and off. No need to spend ages untangling shoelaces—just slide them on with ease. Plus, they feel as cosy as slippers, making them the perfect choice for a hassle-free and comfortable day at the rink.
5. Finish with Festive Flair
Top off your look with some festive colours, reds, greens, and metallics are perfect for the season. Whether it's a bright red scarf or a sparkling accessory, adding a touch of holiday spirit will get you in the mood for skating and celebrating!
