RYA Youth Sailing Week
Embark on an exciting journey to become a qualified sailor with the RYA Youth Sailing Week.
Progress through dynamic courses designed to introduce and develop skills in a thrilling and safe manner. Each stage builds upon the last, covering topics like boat handling, sail control, and safety procedures.
These five-day sailing courses are built around learning by doing - combining games, challenges and interactive theory sessions - to give the best possible insight into the world of sailing. Sessions take place from Monday - Friday from 9.30am - 4.30pm during the school holidays. These courses are suitable for 8 - 15 year olds and cost £279 per person.
On successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded certification from the RYA, the UK’s national sailing body.
This sailing week is ideal for beginners. Stage 1 will teach the different parts of the boat and basic principles of sailing, with Stage 2 teaching improved sailing skills on all points of sail, ropework and collision avoidance. No previous experience is required.
Stage 3 will teach improved rigging, sailing theory, launching and recovery whilst building the confidence in a range of sailing techniques on all points of sail and capsize recovery.
Stage 4 transfers pre-learnt skills, techniques, and manoeuvres to sail crewed boats, enhance rigging, launching, recovery and practical skills to recover a man overboard.
Participants must have completed RYA Youth Sailing Stage 1 & 2.
